City lots, access, and the bottom of the wall
Parking and ladders are part of the city job. Narrow side yards mean we carry tools through a gate and protect the beds on the way. A steep walk up to a Fountain City porch changes how we stage, not the prep standard. Splash from hard rain leaves a dirty band on the lowest siding and on brick at grade. We wash that band. Painting over it leaves a shadow that shows after the first storm.
Interior plaster in these houses gets filled and primed where it has cracked. We do not skim a whole wall unless the written estimate says the wall needs it. Trim that has been painted many times may need sanding at the edges so the new semi-gloss does not highlight every drip from an older coat.
