Fiber cement siding painting Tellico Village is a board-and-finish job, handled by Castle Painters as a Knoxville-area company. Tellico Village and Loudon County are on that same schedule. There is not a separate siding crew parked in the Village. The work is the fiber cement: chalk on the face, cut ends that drink water, and trim joints that have opened. Vinyl and cedar accents can be on the same house. They are not painted with the fiber-cement system.
If an exterior color is changing, you submit it through the ACC. We write the product name, the color, and the sheen on the estimate so you have something accurate to hand in. We do not file the paperwork for you. Approval has to come from the committee.
How fiber cement siding painting Tellico Village is prepped
Fiber cement fails by chalking and by raw edges, not the way cedar peels in curls. The sequence is specific:
- Wash the chalk off. A coat over chalk slides, then sheets off. The wall has to be clean and dry before primer.
- Find the cut ends, especially at window openings, at the bottom of a course, and where a board was trimmed on site. Those ends get sealed and primed. Factory face and a raw cut are not the same surface.
- Caulk open joints where the siding meets trim, windows, and corner boards. Do not caulk a weep or a gap the wall uses to dry.
- Prime the chalked or bare areas with a primer that matches the board. Then finish coats.
- Look at fascia and soffit while we are on the wall. Wood soffit gets the wood prep. Vinyl soffits, which show up on some of these houses, are a different product and are called out that way.
Sherwin-Williams is the brand we name when the finish is a paint. The estimate should show the product, not a generic “exterior paint” line. Two finish coats over sound primer is the normal plan when the color changes. Same-color work still needs primer on every spot we opened to bare board.
Vinyl and cedar on the same house
Vinyl panels, if they are being coated, need a vinyl-safe system and a color that will not overheat the plastic. They do not get the fiber-cement primer. Cedar or shake accents, when they are in the scope, are stained or primed as wood. Shake that is soft is excluded or replaced before we coat it. Mixing the three systems in one unlabeled coat is how one elevation fails and the others hold.
Trim is usually where the eye goes after the field looks even. We sand glossy failed trim, prime the bare wood, and set the sheen harder than the siding body so sills and casings can be cleaned. That sheen is written down. It is not chosen on the ladder the morning we start.
Access on a two-story wall is part of the walkthrough. We note where ladders land and what plantings are in the way. You will hear that on site, not as a surprise added after the color is approved.
The written estimate
The visit produces a free written estimate: elevations, fiber cement prep, cut ends, caulk, primer, finish, and any vinyl or cedar that is actually included. No price is printed on this page. No street address is required. Completed work carries a 3-year written warranty.
The full exterior, including the ACC color path for the whole envelope, is ACC approved exterior painting. The Knoxville-area overview for the Village is Castle Painters in Tellico Village. This page stays on the siding.
What we write down for fiber cement
Have the elevations in mind: front, the wall that takes the weather, and any addition that was resided later. Fiber cement on the main house and a vinyl gable are two systems. Cedar shake accents, if you want them included, are a third. We will not hide those under one line that says “siding.” Cut ends at window returns and at the bottom of a course are photographed in the notes because they are the spots that fail when they were never sealed.
If your color is changing, wait to schedule production until you know what you are submitting. We can name the Sherwin-Williams product and the sheen early so your paperwork matches the estimate. We still do not submit that paperwork. A sample board is available if you were asked for one. The wash, the dry time, the primer, and the caulk at trim do not start because a color feels likely. They start when the scope is the scope.
Fascia and soffit get a yes or a no. Vinyl soffit panels are not primed like the fiber cement face. Wood soffit is. Leaving that unspoken is how the eave looks different from the wall a year later, even when the wall was prepped correctly.
Fiber cement siding painting Tellico Village at the cuts and the chalk
Fiber cement siding painting Tellico Village is a substrate job. Castle Painters is the Knoxville-area company that also serves Tellico Village and Loudon County. We are not a separate brand. The panels are washed for chalk. Cut ends are sealed or primed. Trim is caulked. Bare factory film is primed before the finish. A color you are allowed to use is the color we write down. We do not swap in a different one.
Vinyl on the same house, if it is there, follows a vinyl-safe color. Cedar or shake accents, if you want them stained rather than painted, are called out so they are not rolled with the fiber-cement body. Shade and sun still change dry time. Soft trim is a repair we discuss before it is painted over.
The free estimate is the walkthrough. The writing names fiber cement, any vinyl, and the prep. Warranty on work we paint is 3-year written.
