What the free painting estimate Knoxville visit covers
Plan on 30–60 minutes at the house. We walk the rooms or the elevations you want painted. We check peeling, chalk, mildew, soft wood, failed caulk, stains, and anything that changes the prep. Interior notes include walls, ceilings, trim, doors, and baseboards. Exterior notes include siding, fascia, soffit, and brick if it is part of the ask.
The written estimate names the Sherwin-Williams product and the sheen. It lists prep before color: wash, scrape, sand, caulk, prime, patch, or cut-in, depending on the surface. It does not start from a color chip and a guessed range. If the surface needs more once work starts, we talk before the scope changes.
The form asks for a ZIP code, not a town menu. It does not ask for a street address.

Do I need to be home?
We need the decision maker for the project to be present for the walkthrough and to discuss the project.
How long does it take?
Plan on 30–60 minutes. Larger houses can run longer if we are walking both interior rooms and the full exterior.
Does the estimate cost anything?
The estimate is free. We do not publish prices or ranges on this page.
Do you work with HOA color approvals?
Yes. Bring the packet or the approval note. We write the approved colors into the scope before paint is ordered.
What if I only have photos?
Photos can help us see whether Painter for a Day fits a short list. A whole interior or exterior still gets the on-site walkthrough.
What the written estimate lists
You should be able to read the page and see the work without calling to decode it. A typical interior section names rooms, whether ceilings are included, which trim and doors are in, the sheen, and the repairs: fill, sand, caulk, spot-prime. A typical exterior section names elevations, siding type, fascia and soffit, doors, and the prep: wash, scrape, sand, caulk, prime. Stain sections name clean, dry time, and whether boards are repaired or only stained. Brick sections name the finish and whether moisture has to be solved first.
What is not in the job is listed too. That is how a siding-only visit stays siding-only. We do not add a range, a discount, or a guess from a color chip. If you want a second project scheduled for later, ask while we are there and we will list that project on its own.
