Older houses here often still have wood siding. A later wing may be fiber cement or vinyl. Those three materials do not take the same prep or the same color limits. Castle Painters identifies each elevation, then washes, repairs, and coats. The whole-house envelope, including a full trim package and doors, lives on the exterior painting page. This page stays on the siding and the trim that is painted with it: field boards, fascia, and soffit.

We do not describe the job as a look. We describe the film. Dirt and chalk come off. Loose paint is scraped. Open joints are caulked. Bare wood is primed. Then the finish goes on. Work we complete carries a 3-year written warranty.

Siding painting Sequoyah Hills by material

Wood clapboard and wood shingle courses are scraped to sound edges and sanded. The bottom course, the splash line above a foundation, and the boards beside windows are probed for soft wood. A soft board is replaced or repaired before paint, and that repair is its own line on the estimate. Paint over rot just peels again. Grain that is bare after the scrape gets an exterior primer, including cut ends. The finish is a house paint made for wood, brushed into the laps so the bottom edge of each course is coated, not just the face.

Fiber cement is a cement board, not wood. It is washed. Open butt joints are caulked with a product that can move. Chips and fastener stains are primed. The factory finish, once it has chalked, will take a new coat. Fiber cement can hold a darker color that would be a poor choice on vinyl. Hardie may be the brand on the board. We still call the material fiber cement on the scope so the prep is clear.

Vinyl is washed, not scraped like wood. The surface has to be clean or the coating will not hold. The color has to be chosen so the panel does not absorb enough heat to warp. We use a vinyl-safe palette when the siding is vinyl, and we will say no to a color that sits outside that range. Vinyl is not caulked shut at the ends in a way that stops it from moving. We seal gaps that leak, and we leave the expansion joints alone.

Fascia, soffit, and the trim painted with the field

Fascia and soffit on these houses are often wood even when one wall has been resided. They are in this scope when they are painted with the siding. We wash the soffit vents without driving water into the attic. Peeling on the fascia is scraped. Bare spots are primed. A gutter that is full of debris holds water against the fascia. We note that. Cleaning a gutter is not a substitute for priming bare wood, and painting is not a substitute for a leaking gutter.

Window trim and corner boards are caulked where the joint is open, then coated with the trim color if you want a contrast. One color on everything is also fine. We write which. Metal corners and nail heads that flash rust get a spot primer so the stain does not come through the new coat.

Shade changes the wash more than it changes the product. Walls that stay damp grow mildew. We kill that growth and rinse it before any coating. Sun-hit wood chalks. Chalk left in place makes the new paint slide. Both conditions show up on the same Sequoyah Hills house. We treat the elevation we are standing on.

What this visit is not

We do not promise a result we cannot prep. If the siding is too far gone, we say so and we do not sell a coat over it. If only one wall failed, we can scope that wall. A full wrap is better when the color is changing, because a one-wall patch of a new color rarely matches a weathered field.

Brick, decks, and fences are different trades on the same property. They stay on their own scopes, and they are not ignored if you ask. The exterior painting page is the right place when doors, shutters, and every trim piece are in the same project. The Sequoyah Hills painters page lists the rest.

When we name a brand, it is Sherwin-Williams, written as a product on the estimate, not as a slogan.

Get a free estimate. We identify wood, fiber cement, or vinyl, mark soft boards, and send the prep and the coating in writing.

Siding painting Sequoyah Hills on wood, fiber cement, and vinyl

Siding painting Sequoyah Hills covers wood, fiber cement, and vinyl, often on the same older house where an addition sits beside original clapboard. Wood is washed, scraped, caulked, and primed on bare grain. Fiber cement is washed for chalk and primed where the factory film is gone. Vinyl is coated only in a color that will not heat-warp the panel. Shade under trees means mildew at the bottom course. We clean that before any finish.

Fascia, soffit, and the trim painted with the field are listed. They are not assumed. Soft fascia is a repair. We do not turn the visit into an architectural tour. We name the material and the prep. Brick and a deck are other pages even if we see them from the same ladder.

The free estimate is the walkthrough. The written estimate separates materials. Warranty on work we paint is 3-year written. Sherwin-Williams is named when we specify the coating.

The broader exterior is exterior painting in Sequoyah Hills.
